Developing a world-class endoscopy unit relies on the collaboration of a proficient and skilled team composed of physicians, endoscopy nurses, and technicians. This symposium is designed to impart novel techniques and refine current practices, offering a comprehensive didactic and hands-on experience. Internationally renowned experts will conduct live demonstrations, aiming to equip attendees with a deeper understanding of their pivotal role in procedural outcomes, and to present the latest advancements in endoscopic approaches to gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary diseases. State-of-the-art techniques and cutting-edge technology will be showcased in a practical manner to enable participants to seamlessly integrate this knowledge into their clinical practice. Distinguished national and international faculty, licensed and credentialed to perform endoscopy at AdventHealth Orlando and the Center for Interventional Endoscopy (CIE) at AdventHealth, will conduct live liver endoscopic procedures transmitted to the audience at Nicholson Center, Celebration. The primary objective of this live demonstration is to exhibit advanced endoscopic procedures, placing emphasis on procedural techniques to optimize success and enhance patient safety, as well as to highlight innovations in procedural techniques and the utilization of new technologies. Faculty members, recognized for their expertise in endoscopy and adeptness in professional education, will demonstrate these procedures and enhance the educational experience of participants. Additionally, the course aims to educate nurses and technicians about endoscopic equipment and accessories. During this segment of the event, participants will receive comprehensive training on endoscopic equipment and accessories. The session will include a step-by-step guide on how to prepare and effectively use endoscopic accessories, along with practical tips for providing better assistance during endoscopic procedures, cultivating the development of effective team members.

Objectives

  • Discuss recent endoscopic innovations and techniques and their clinical utility and effectiveness in disease management.
  • Describe how to operate endoscopic accessories and effectively assist during a procedure.
  • Identify best practices in endoscopic treatment of medical emergencies and patient preparation for advanced endoscopic procedures.
  • Recognize the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to patient management.
  • Discuss ethics in therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy.
