This live seminar is designed for therapists and assistants who supervise OT/OTA students, or who are interested in doing so in the future. Topics will include learning styles; student/patient correlation; laws and guidelines with fieldwork (supervision, hours, ADA, fieldwork evaluation); multiple case studies will also be discussed. The seminar consists of lectures, group discussions, videos, and hands-on activities, to address the course objectives.
- Recognize the benefits of taking students.
- Identify the various challenges that may be present, when working with students.
- Understand the ADA and student supervision requirements.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the various stakeholders in the fieldwork experiences.
- Identify the differences between Level I and Level II Fieldwork.
- Discuss what to do in the event a student fails the fieldwork experience.
- Identify laws and guidelines related to OT/OTA fieldwork.
- Describe various student learning styles.
- Apply fieldwork evaluation information to their practice setting.
