Webinar: Balancing Act - Work-Life Balance and Your Health

Price: $15.00
Nursing CE: 1.00
This course is accessible until 9/26/2028

This pre-recorded webinar explores how the demands of healthcare work can affect your physical health, emotional well-being, and ability to provide safe care. It will help participants recognize the difference between everyday stress and burnout, understand how fatigue and chronic stress influence performance, and consider realistic ways to protect their health. Participants will reflect on personal stressors, boundaries, recovery, support systems, and the role organizations play in creating healthier workplaces.

Healthcare professionals often place their own health last while managing demanding schedules, staffing challenges, emotional demands, and responsibilities that extend beyond their shifts. As exhaustion and stress become normalized, they may not recognize when they are approaching burnout or may delay seeking help. This can affect concentration, communication, judgment, relationships with patients and colleagues, and the quality and safety of care. There is a need for healthcare professionals to recognize the warning signs of burnout, use practical strategies to support their well-being, and understand how workplace conditions and organizational support also contribute to sustainable practice.

By the end of this course, at least 80% of learners will be able to:

  • Identify key signs and characteristics of burnout, including emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced personal accomplishment.
  • Explain how burnout, compassion fatigue, moral distress, and fatigue can affect patient care and safety.
  • Distinguish between healthy and unhealthy coping strategies.
  • List personal resilience strategies such as setting boundaries, seeking social support, practicing mindfulness, and scheduling recovery time.
