In this CT Registry Review course, we will be reviewing topics related to patient care, including evaluating vital signs, and identifying cycles of infection and ways to prevent infection. We will also discuss various contrast media used in CT and contraindications, as well as negative reaction symptoms to contrast. Also presented are legal and ethical principles related to the CT profession.

You must be licensed in the state of Florida to report an activity that is only approved by the state. If this activity is also approved by an organization that ARRT has approved to evaluate CE, select that organization’s name, as opposed to the state licensing agency name.

 

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Describe basic patient care procedures, including evaluation of the four main vital signs and the normal range for each.
  2. Explain the cycle of infection, modes of transportation, and the safety practices used to prevent the spread of infection.
  3. Describe the properties of contrast media used in CT, and any special considerations and contraindications for administration.
  4. Identify contraindications for CT administration and pre-exam tests used for patient evaluation.
  5. Recognize symptoms of a negative reaction to contrast media.
  6. Identify basic legal and ethical principles that relate to the CT professional, including informed consent.

Leanna Neubrander, M.H.Sc, RT(R)(CT)

Leanna Neubrander is the Director of Online Strategic Development and Engagement for AdventHealth University and has been a faculty member at AdventHealth University (AHU) since 2006.  Ms. Neubrander was the Associate Professor of Imaging Sciences and lead instructor for the CT courses in the B.S. Radiologic Sciences Program.  Ms. Neubrander graduated with her A.S. degree in Radiography and B.S. degree in Radiologic Sciences from AHU and obtained her master's degree from Nova Southeastern University in Health Sciences with a concentration in Higher Education. She is certified and proficient in Radiography and Computed Tomography (CT), and is trained in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).  Ms. Neubrander serves as the Educator on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) CT Exam Committee.
