Myocardial Perfusion Imaging

Price: $16.00
Imaging CE: 2.50
This course is accessible until 1/31/2026

Myocardial Perfusion Imaging was designed by Nuclear Medicine Technologists for Nuclear Medicine Technologists who routinely perform nuclear cardiology procedures, but is an excellent course for any healthcare professional caring for patients with cardiovascular disease. The course provides an overview of many aspects of myocardial perfusion imaging, including safe patient preparation, radiopharmaceuticals, acquisition parameters, processing, and potential artifacts.

NOTE for Imaging: This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors; individuals may not repeat and report a self-learning activity for credit twice in the same biennium. You must be licensed in the state of Florida to report an activity that is only approved by the state. If this activity is also approved by an organization that ARRT has approved to evaluate CE, select that organization’s name, as opposed to the state licensing agency name.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
  1. List the indications and contraindications for myocardial perfusion imaging.
  2. List the characteristics of the radiopharmaceuticals used for myocardial perfusion imaging.
  3. List the parameters of various acquisition protocols.
  4. Understand the importance of correct processing technique and the basics of quantitative analysis.
  5. Identify potential artifacts in myocardial perfusion imaging.
  6. Describe procedures that can be used to prevent artifacts.

Revisioning Author: Samantha D. Roper, CNMT

At the start of her medical career, Samantha relocated to work in a robust cardiac clinic with a special focus in cardiac PET scans. This big decision to move from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to an unfamiliar Shreveport, Louisiana would set the tone for the rest of her career as she would later learn and live by the motto: “Smooth seas don’t make skillful sailors”. With over seven (7) years of experience, Samantha has been afforded the great pleasure to serve different communities as a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Working in multiple clinics and hospitals, with varying roles, has given her an edge to multi-task and fully function in diverse settings. Ms. Roper considers herself to be a compassionate caretaker, self-motivated, a problem-solver, a critical thinker, and a team player. Her expertise includes cardiac SPECT, cardiac PET, general nuclear studies, non-diagnostic CT (with formal CT education), and an array of nuclear imaging equipment. Currently, she tutors new grads and is also working on a platform that makes scheduling the patient’s diagnostic appointment a more seamless process. As a creative professional, Samantha is always looking for ways to improve, advance, and contribute what she has learned so that imaging can be made simple.
