Principles of Doppler Physics

Price: $10.00
Imaging CE: 1.25
This course is accessible until 6/30/2025

Principles of Doppler Physics presents basic Doppler ultrasound, and its role and usefulness in evaluating the circulatory system. The Doppler equation will be analyzed, with emphasis on the angle and its impact on accurate velocity calculations. Potential sources of velocity measurement errors will be discussed.

NOTE for Imaging: This activity may be available in multiple formats or from different sponsors; individuals may not repeat and report a self-learning activity for credit twice in the same biennium. You must be licensed in the state of Florida to report an activity that is only approved by the state. If this activity is also approved by an organization that ARRT has approved to evaluate CE, select that organization’s name, as opposed to the state licensing agency name.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to

  1. Identify factors that affect volume flow rate.
  2. Describe the use of Doppler ultrasound to evaluate blood flow velocities.
  3. Predict the effect of Doppler angle on velocity calculations.
  4. Identify sources of velocity calculations errors.
  5. Demonstrate effective angle of insonation for most accurate velocity calculation.
