Fetal Abdominal Abnormalities will cover the multiple anomalies that can occur in the fetal abdomen. Sonographic descriptions will be provided, and a variety of associated anomalies will be explored. Attention will also be given to laboratory values that may present with specific anomalies. Multiple examples of sonographic images will be presented including some case presentations of complex anomalies.

You must be licensed in the state of Florida to report an activity that is only approved by the state. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to

  1. Describe the abnormalities that are associated with the fetal genitourinary and gastrointestinal system,
  2. Differentiate among anomalies of the fetal abdominal wall,
  3. Recognize the sonographic features of specific abnormalities.
  4. List anomalies associated with specific abnormalities.

Charlotte Henningsen, MS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT, FSDMS, FAIUM

Charlotte Henningsen has taught at Adventist University of Health Sciences for over 20 years. She has been a sonographer for 30 years and is also adjunct faculty to the Florida Hospital Emergency Medicine Residency Program the Florida Hospital Radiology Residency Program. She has served on the Boards of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). She has also authored several articles published in the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, has written several chapters in textbooks, and co-authored the Clinical Guide to Sonography.

Revisioning Author: Marjorie Quevedo, BSDMS, RDMS, RDCS, RVT

Marjorie Quevedo is a Faculty Member in the department of Diagnostic Medical Sonography. She graduated from the Cardiovascular Sonography program here at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences in 2006 and then from the General Sonography Program at Florida Hospital College in 2007. Mrs. Quevedo also graduated from Adventist University of Health Sciences in 2015 with her Bachelors Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Mrs. Quevedo holds credentials as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen and Obstetrics/Gynecology, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echo, and Registered Vascular Technician (RVT). She has worked for the Adventist Health hospital system in California as a Lead Sonographer, and has worked for several years at varying private Physician offices. She currently is a member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) and has had a journal article published in the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JDMS).
