19: Relational Triangulation
Hours: 1.00

This course defines and describes relational triangulation, why it happens, how to avoid being caught in relational triangles and how to build healthy relationships. Triangles are often created when there is conflict in a relationship; this course explores the distinctions between caring confrontation as a necessity of a healthy relationship and how avoiding confrontation leads to relational dysfunction which invites unhealthy relating.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will have:

  1. Introduction to the definition of triangulation in the context of relational dynamics.
  2. Introduction to relational systems and components of systems theory that inform relational triangles.
  3. Explore ways to move out of relational triangles and engage in more self-aware, emotionally intelligent relationships.
  4. Consider the distinctions between confrontation and conflict and the role they plan in relational dynamics.
