  2. Institute a plan of documentation for an evidence-based portfolio.
  3. Create a circle of collaboration and mutual support.

Ernest Bursey, PhD

Ernie Bursey has been a faculty member of Adventist University of Health Sciences since 2001 as Professor of Religion in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences. His current teaching assignments at both the undergraduate and graduate level include World Religions for Healthcare Professions, Bioethics, Spirituality in Healthcare, and Biblical Studies. He received the Teacher of the Year award in 2009. Prior to his appointment at Adventist University he taught 28 years at Walla Walla University, serving most recently as the Dean of the School of Theology. His earned graduate degrees include an M.Div. degree from Andrews University; an M.A. in Religious Studies from Yale University; and a Ph.D in New Testament Studies from Yale University with his dissertation topic on Exorcism in the Book of Matthew. He is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Adventist Society for Religious Studies, serving as President in 2000. Recent presentations made to health care professionals and associations include: “Joy in the Job: Can We Learn Anything from a Curmudgeon?”; “Creation Health: Mission, Ministry and Money”; “Four Faces of Biblical Spirituality”; “Strengthening Your Spiritual Backbone: Conscience and Courage”; “Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People”; and “The ‘No’ in the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” He delivered the inaugural lecture, “Service-Based Learning: What a Little Adventist College Can Do” in the Distinguished Faculty Lecture series at Walla Walla University.

Carolyn Fore, PhD, RN

Dr. Fore has been a faculty at the University since 2001. Previously, she taught nursing classes at universities in Kentucky and Oklahoma. She is a pediatric nurse who worked as a staff nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, as well as the Pediatric call-center. Dr. Fore has taught in the Pediatric Nursing course, here at ADU, and is currently teaching Health Promotion and Wellness, Introduction to Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice, and Issues in Professional Nursing. She also teaches the research class in the Nurse Anesthesia program.
