Details

This program is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is presented over 2 days, each with their own distinct agenda:

  1. CI education via an interactive didactic course format that is appropriate for all clinical educators.
  2. Assessment (credentialing) of curricular outcomes through a six-station assessment center that is available only to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.

The interactive didactic component is designed to provide knowledge and skills that are essential for all clinical educators when supervising learners. Only Credentialed Clinical trainers recognized by the APTA can conduct CCIP courses. All participants must attend each session in its entirety and complete the assessment center to be eligible for credentialing.

The CCIP Level 1 Addresses:

  1. Planning and preparing students during their clinical education experiences.
  2. Developing learning experiences in practice tailored to meet specific student needs.
  3. Ongoing learning through questions and effective feedback.
  4. Identifying and managing students with difficult and/or exceptional situations.
  5. Identifying legal, legislative, and regulatory implications for clinical educators, including issues presented by ADA, HIPPA, and Medicare.

Learning outcomes for each PT/PTA participant completing the didactic portion of the CCIP (Part I) are measured through an open-book Assessment Center (Part II-credentialing process). this process provides PT/PTA participants with an opportunity to apply information learned from the didactic curriculum in 6 simulated situations. Successful completion of all stations in the Assessment Center results in the awarding of the APTA Clinical.
