Certification Course: This certification course is designed for therapists and assistants

Target Audience: Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants

Accreditation: This course has been approved for 7 hours of continuing education.

Course Presenter: Amy McGinnis Stango, M.S. OTR/L, M.S. BCBA began providing applied behavior analysis services, with a special emphasis on verbal behavior in 1998.  She holds a Master of Science degree in occupational therapy from Alvernia University, and is nationally registered occupational therapist.  She also holds a masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology, and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Amy is the founder and clinical director of Empirical Pediatric Therapy, Inc., a transdisciplinary pediatric therapy center that specializes in a behavior analytic approach to occupational therapy.  In addition to providing direct and consultative services to families, clinics and schools across the United States and abroad, Amy is a published researcher and frequent invited speaker at workshops and conferences.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this certification course attendees will be able to:

  1. Participants will accurately identify the differences between the topography and function of behavior.
  2. Participants will identify potential functions of behavior.
  3. Participants will identify strategies to prevent and respond to problematic behavior.
  4. Participants will identify strategies to teach functional skills to replace problematic behavior.
