The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has reported that healthcare workers that do not wash their hands when indicated or do not wash their hands correctly, leads to the spread of germs that cause infections in patients during their hospital stay. Hand hygiene compliance is so important that at AdventHealth, hand hygiene is regularly monitored. This brief module will teach you when and how to correctly maintain hand hygiene.

Upon completion of this course, the learner will:

1. Apply the principles of hand hygiene to prevent infection and keep patients and staff safe.
2. List the five moments of hand hygiene.
3. State the indications to use soap and water instead of alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
4. State the indications for wearing gloves.
5. State the minimum time needed to perform hand hygiene.
6. List two methods to monitor hand hygiene at your facility. (Infection rates, Direct Observation of Staff)

I understand that I am required to complete the 2023/2024 Hand Hygiene for Non-Clinical Healthcare Workers as part of the requirements for volunteering for AdventHealth.

I understand that in order to receive credit for completing the online courses(s) for Volunteer Services I must watch the entire course, complete the quizzes, pass the post test, and fill out the evaluation for each course.

Completion Requirements: To receive completion certificate the participant must:

• View all modules
• Participate and pass all learning checks
• Pass the Post Test(s) with a score of 100%
• Complete and submit the on-line evaluation

Completion Certificates: Will be available to print immediately upon successful completion of this online course. It also will be stored electronically in your profile under your course history.

Electronic Record Retention: All activity records are kept on file for a minimum of six (6) years.
