Virginia Ruth Corey, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, RN
Dr. Corey is a “Doctor of Nursing Practice “and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has worked for many years in both public and private practice as a medical provider. Corey’s academic appointments include tenure as a full professor of nursing, Program Lead for the Practical Nursing Program at Daytona State College, Department Chair of Nursing at Seminole State College, Professor of the Certified Nurse Anesthetist Program at Adventist University of Health Sciences and, after moving to Nashville, TN. the Director of Nursing Academics at Marian University, and the Executive Director of the School of Nursing at Lipscomb University. Corey’s experience in nursing education includes development of educational online and on-ground nursing programs, professional development curriculum, and continuing education and online courses. Corey is the author of many clinical practice white papers utilizing the science of nursing research to build quality in healthcare programs for both patients and health care providers. She is a national honor society member of both the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society and the Golden Key Society. Her awards include the University of Central Florida’s Outstanding Student Award, the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award at Daytona State College, the Florida Hospital Clinical Excellence in Research Award, and the Nova Southeastern Chancellor’s Outstanding Academic Award. She is currently the owner, CEO and President of Its A Calling Education LLC, a company that specializes in building nursing programs, nursing schools, healthcare curriculum and continuing education for healthcare professionals. She is the author of this Practical School of Nursing, the 3 R’s Nurse Refresher Course, and the Simulations vs. Case Studies Book.

P. Gage Gwyn, Ph.D., APRN-BC, CNS, OCN, FCN
Priscilla "Gage" Gwyn is an adult oncology nurse practitioner at the Ambulatory Infusion Center at AdventHealth in Greater Orlando (formerly Florida Hospital). Dr. Gwyn received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the SUNY Brockport College of Nursing in New York and her Master of Science in nursing with Adult Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist certificates from Duke University College of Nursing in Durham, North Carolina. She then received her PhD in Nursing from the Barry University, Division of Nursing, in Miami Shores, Florida. She has lectured on the care of patients with hematologic malignancies and has initiated, coordinated, and facilitated monthly support groups at several practice locations in Florida. She is nationally published and is a current member of the Oncology Nursing Society, Society of NeuroOncology, and Greater Orlando Hematology Oncology Physician Extenders.

Revisioning Author: Marlene Watson, EdD, JD, MSN, RN
Dr. Marlene Watson has been a nursing faculty at AdventHealth University since 2005. In 1993, Dr. Watson earned her Diploma Nursing Degree at George Brown College in Toronto, Canada. She continued her education at the University of Central Florida where she earned her BSN in 1999 and MSN in 2003. In 2014, Dr. Watson received her Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University and a Juris Doctorate from Barry University in 2018.
After receiving her law degree, she became an adjunct professor providing online instruction to students in their second and third year. Currently, she serves as a content reviewer for echelon®, and has been a clinical adjunct faculty for the University of Central Florida.
Dr. Watson is the founder and President of Youth United for Christ, a local 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to mentor both children and youth. She has organized and participated in several mission trips to Haiti, where she and her team provided health related screenings and education. Additionally, she has coordinated many local community outreach events, serving displaced families in the community.
